REVIEWS and COMMENTS:
Hi Lee,
Today I had a chance to try the board [138 X 41 Freeride] for the first time. As always it is amazing. On an overpowered 12m it cut through the chop like butter. When the wind died down I was still able to work it despite my 240 pounds. Perfect.
Thank you again for amazing job.

Hey Lee,
I finally rode the [race] board this weekend, what a blast!
Wind was probably 12 – 18 knots? Lulls less than 10.
Was powered ripping around the whole time on my 12m. Super fun to blast upwind then coming ripping back almost straight downwind.
I got dialed in on it pretty quick, need to work on my gybes and for sure I need to learn to tack.
Looking forward to lots more sessions on it, cheers!

From Kiteforum.com “In search of the ultimate kiteboard”:
YES I HAVE FOUND THE ULTIMATE KITE BOARD (Rogue Wave)
WOW–
My First Real 4 hour powered session on this board
SW winds 20-35 full blown wind swell & chop
After 4 full hours on the water in heavy chop I had no knee pain at all.ZERO
I have ridden and owned several most popular high end production boards including the famous OR Mako and none of them come close to the smooth ride of my custom Rogue Wave especially in heavy chop.
Upwind drive of the board is as good as my LF Recoil Comp
Carving A+
Pop is excellent. A+
Board is light A+
Flat water its amazing A+
Chop handleing its A+
Durability A++
Upwind Drive A+
Wind Range A , Slightly lower than a Recoil Comp (Really shine’s on the high end).
Not sure why but the board rides and feels smaller than it is… Compared to my Recoil Comp 135
It feels like a 128 so easy to through around.
This board excels at everything I was looking for in a board …. Its is in fact the Ultimate Kiteboard.
Anyone looking for a new board should really take a look at Rogue Wave and give Lee a call for less than the price of the popular production boards you can get the in my opinion the Ultimate Kiteboard. After riding this board I have no idea why anyone would buy a production board. I certainly wouldn’t.
Thanks Lee..

“My vote is for a rogue wave. I picked one up two years ago and so far, it is the only board I have not sold at the end of the season. Very smooth through the chop, nice pop and rides great upwind. I have to say the wrapped rails put me off at first, I thought you couldn’t ride without a razor sharp ABS rail but, I was pleasantly surprise at how well this holds an edge and pops out of the water. Also, I was able to ride a much larger board that I would ever have purchase in the pressed variety. I used to ride 130×39’s for the production boards but, now my RW is a 138×42 and I have no trouble in the heaviest chop or the 30+ wind we have around here.
Not to mention you can have a custom board done for you for the same price as a production.”

Hey Lee Just rode board yesterday! (5.6 X 19 1/4″ surfboard)SUPER impressed! The finish is very nice. Not too heavy or too light! Just right!I was really happy with the overall feel of the board, super smooth! Jon Modica (Cabrinha Team Rider).Florida—————————————————————————————————Lee,
What can I say, the Fat Bastard was a home run, I was up and on a plane effortlessly, and riding upwind on my first real session ever. Thanks for a job very well done, and the local Erie kiters were thoroughly impressed ~ I hope I can send some more business your way soon.
Cheers, J-G

“Wow, what a sweet board. Your boards are the Cadillac of kiteboards, soooo smooth in the chop, it’s great. It screams upwind effortlessly. It is great in the waves as well. Students are responding well to the board, hope it will boost your sales. Thanks again.”

Posted on Kiteforum.com — Favorite board for Lakes?:
“Rogue Wave Custom’s. Hands down.
So much nicer to ride in our chop, bump and jump, and lake swell than any off the shelf pop out board. Someday the kitesurfing masses will look back at the boards that are the current industry standard and laugh. How can we understand that rail shape and rocker line are so integral to what makes a good surfboard and yet completely disregard these same properties in a twin tip? I just don’t get it. Most kiteboards have more in common with boards designed to ride on snow than anything designed to ride on water!
Lee Brittain is an artist and master board builder, so is Jimmy, and a handful of other who shape boards with wrapped smooth rails and rocker lines that allow for feel over function. Once you’re over the “gotta stay upwind” stage, do yourself a favor and switch to a board that’s well designed to RIDE on water. I have SO much more FUN on Lee’s boards
Whatever your size, whatever your style, a made to order board is always gonna be a better fit, and you pay the same as you would for a new pop out from any of the big brands. Starsky

Hey Lee,
I just wanted to let you know that I am totally stoked with the quality and performance that I have gotten from the 135 x 43 and 128 x 38 twin tip Rogue Wave boards I bought from you last year. It was my first year kiting after windsurfing for 27 years and there is no way I would have progressed to the level I have without riding on top quality custom boards. The 128 x 38 is one sweet ride. I have used it on Georgian Bay in 2m waves, in San Andreas Columbia in a tropical storm and in Cuba in some wicked 30mph wind driven chop. Each time I come off the water grinning from ear to ear!
Keep up the excellent work in your board building!
Rick.

Just wanted to let you know that I am thrilled with the board you made me. Just like the website said one ride is all it takes, and this was the truth for me. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have found some one who can make a board to fit my needs as a really big man. The board was incredibly smooth in the surf. I had previously only had a door style board for those conditions, so as you can imagine riding the Nalu was a way different, more satisfying experience. Well you definitely have a repeat buyer here sometime in the future, and someone who will rave about your board to anyone who needs to know a custom builder, or who is in the market for a new board. I finally got out for a quick session on the board today. It was a very smooth ride, and carved up wind like crazy. the first jump i popped I scared myself, this board has crazy pop. Love it Love it! And I think everyone at the water was jealous of the pure sexiness of the board. you made the right call with red, it looks amazing. Thank you very much!! Andrew F –Kingston ON

Hey Lee
Best board ever? I’m just back from my 10 days in Brazil, totally scored pretty much all 10 and 12m weather. Totally loving the board. I’ve ridden it in a huge range of conditions and it seems to be handling it all with tremendous bravado. It totally kills it in the waves,[I] was tearing it up in some pretty big stuff, it holds an edge nice on the bottom turn and throws buckets on the top turn. The board also has really good flex. Enough to make it feel a bit forgiving (I can definitely feel it flex when I sketch out) but stiff enough to really load it up. It might very well be the elusive one twin tip for all occasions I have been looking for. Thanks again, I’m very stoked! MA – Toronto ON.

Hey Lee
I just wanted to let you know the new board has been awesome. I have only rode it with my Escalades, but with bindings I can hold as much power as I want and load up anytime I want. I have also been riding finless this fall, and it is surprisingly good even without fins. I could easily ride up wind and do all my usual tricks I just had to focus on loading up the rail a bit more when doing load and pop type tricks. For me however it is exactly what I asked for and wanted. The [old] board still looks good (after three years some cosmetic damage of course) and feels super sound. Once again the new board is awesome and I am looking forward to doing business again in the future. B P — Ontario, Canada

Hi Lee,
I realized this weekend that this is the 4th year of my [old] board and there is not a single problem with it! I finally got a really great session on the new board this weekend. It was blowing 25-35mph with some gusts to 40mph and some large swell. I was powered up on my 7m fuel. The new board is definitely livelier and more loose then the old board. It is much nicer to ride in the swell since it has more rocker. It has as much pop as the old board but being that it is lighter, it’s easier to pop. Overall its a much nicer ride, which is hard to believe because I loved my older board. Great job on the shape and thanks! Ted Haynes

Lee,
Just letting you know that Canadian Naish team rider Sam Medysky took 1st place in both the Distance and Border-X races and 3rd in the freestyle. For his efforts Sam was crowned the overall 2007 Windfest Kiteboarding Champion. Sam won both the Border-X and Distance races on a Rogue Wave Custom racing board. Wassup Lee!
I spent a lot of time on your board…since it’s the only one I have, for all type of conditions. I ride it with some 0.5 fin…it’s soooooo good. I ride it in all type of condition, flat water, choppy water, slider, underpowered, overpowered… I LOVE IT!!! It works awesome in flatwater, but it’s excellent in chop too! The board is very solid on the landing and had some great pop. I love the outline, very well done, work in every type of water. The board likes to be ridden with a lot of power! Better pop! Overall….SHIT DAMN DAMN SHIT SHIT its THA BOARD! WOW Thx for all, service was excellent, very fast! Francois S-F [Frank] — New Brunswick, Canada.

Hello Lee,
What a great board! Used it ocean and sound in Hatteras in all kinds of wind. Felt great in the waves, flat water and chop. This morning I had it out by my place and it smoothed out the chop extremely well, what a smooth ride. I love the paint job too. MR— BC, Canada

Lee,
I saw a full page article about you in Kiteworld. Now how will you be able to work with all that fame. They stated what I already knew your the best. I still have my board and its still rocks. Nothing else has matched it yet.You are the man Lee …party on. Bill Meyers, Myers Kitesurfing — Wilson, NY

Lee,
Loving the board. It’s actually turning out to be a great all-around big guy board. I weigh 200 pounds and could easily use it as my only board. Rode it in 25-30 knots yesterday and felt good. Also remains really balanced with my 16. Cheers, John Bryja, SBC Kiteboard Magazine
Hey Hey Lee!
The board is outstanding man still loving it, going to the gorge a fair bit and Squamish. A lot of people love the paint job - I must say and I never get sick of looking at it. MC — BC, Canada
Hey Lee,
I nailed your board against a big one and was ejected onto some rubble (in a about 2 feet of water). I got a little scratched up (not to worry I am ok), and I now appreciate how bomber your boards are. No breaks. Amazing! We’ve had an unbelievable couple days of wind here in Chicago. The big board you made is really great! Just yesterday I was able to feel powered up on my 16 in 12 knots. It then came up and I had to hustle to get my 12. The two small boards you made are still awesome. Every time I am out I am thankful for these boards. They are like magnets on the lake chop and make everything feel like silk. People always ask me about them but I do not understand why they want to pay more for a production board &#&!?. The boards are still bomber and are so well made which makes me worry: how am I going to get another board made by you? Something tells me I will find a way. Talk to you soon! JA – Chicago, IL
Hey Lee,
Well I realized I haven’t told you how that board performs. All I can say is that you did it. This for me is def the best board I have ridden. I love it! I would def order another one like this. KN — Ontario, Canada
Lee,
I rode the new board Friday and Saturday, both days on my 12m and pretty well powered. Sweet board, super smooth and easy to ride. Love those nice soft rails. Board is quite different to ride then my K Mart pro models. Very different to edge which takes a little getting used to. Quite a bit faster than my boards which is fun. I love how loose and turny the board feels and how smooth the board is in chop. Lots of complements on the colour scheme. Anyway, thanks again, talk soon. MA—Ontario, Canada
Lee,
I finally got to take the board out last Saturday. Due to the wind direction I had to go to Vieux Fort which is my most hated spot in St. Lucia owing largely to enormous chop and also it always seems to be wind with tide so it’s a real struggle to get and stay upwind especially when jumping. Considering all this I was not expecting much but I had a wicked session. The board bites upwind lands smooth and hot downwind and carves so sweetly. I never believed all this nonsense of “one board” solutions but “The Hobo” is the nearest I’ve come to it. The highest accolade I can give you, as the shaper, is that it didn’t even feel like I had a board on my feet. Needless to say I can not wait to hit my secret spot this weekend and no doubt that the board will perform even better. Again Lee, many thanks I’m stoked with the shape and the graphics. You definitely have my repeat business. CH — St Lucia
